Distance Calculator — FAQ

What does this calculator actually do?

Type in any two places, pick km or miles, and I’ll tell you how far apart they are in a straight line. Swap them instantly with one click.

City ↔ Country… how do you measure that?

For countries we use a representative point (usually the capital area or geographic centroid). So “Barcelona ↔ France” will measure Barcelona to a central point in France.

Why is this different from driving distance?

Because this is the air-line path over the globe. Roads bend, have limits, and detours—so driving distance is usually longer. We may add road routing later.

How accurate is the number?

Great-circle is the standard way to measure “as-the-crow-flies”. It’s very good for quick planning and flight comparisons. For turn-by-turn driving, you’ll want a routing API.

Can I get travel time as well?

Not yet. This tool focuses on distance. If you need flight time, try our Flight Duration Calculator; for road time we’ll plug routing as a next step.

Does it support miles?

Sí. Toggle km/mi and I’ll convert instantly.

Is it free?

Claro. Free to use, no login—handy for quick checks whether you’re comparing Barcelona–Madrid or London–Rome.
